Winter reading

I'm taking advantage of this winter of 2025 to read Martin Walker's books.

Now I understand visitors' enthusiasm for this detective series!

We'll be able to discuss the stories together, and discover the places featured in the books.

The Périgord of “Bruno, Chief of Police"

Bruno’s character is fictional but his region, Périgord Noir, is quite real, as are the foods and wines, markets, castles that Bruno encounters in his adventures.

Bruno immerses us in local life, its landscapes, its history and its food specialities ( truffles, walnuts, foie gras and wine). Bruno loves to cook and share a good meal with his friends, always with a good bottle of Bergerac wine!

Earth's Children

This series follows Ayla, a Cro-Magnon girl, who faces immense challenges in prehistoric Europe. After an earthquake, she is orphaned and taken in by a clan of Neanderthals. The story explores themes of belonging, survival, and the contrast between different human species in a richly detailed historical context.

A garden in Sarlat

Wendy and David live in the same area as me in Sarlat. Their bed and breakfast welcomes travellers from all over the world. I loved reading about their adventures in buying a house in Sarlat and setting up their business.

A tale full of humour and anecdotes!
